North Fork of the Yuba River
Ok, I couldn't resist and ended up getting skunked one more time. I ended up going to the North Fork of the Yuba River. I have always done good on this river. Before I made my decision to go there, I was on the road playing Rock, Paper, Scissors with myself. I couldn't choose between the Rubicon, the North Fork of the Middle Fork of the American River, or the Truckee River. Thanks to a lil' intervention from my better half (My Wife) and the dreams of hooking into a Brown Trout, I headed to Grass Valley and Hwy 49, the North Fork River Highway.
When I got there, I thought I made the correct choice. On my third cast, I hooked into a big, strong fish. I thought I had it this one one my 4 weight and tried not to pull too hard on my line. I believe I lost my fish do this this train of thought, cause that fish hopped out of the water one time and dove into a rapid. Then the fish manage to shake the hook off. I was thinking, ok excellent start. There should be some more where that came from. The sun was shining and I saw some bugs flying. I believed they were stone flies. However, that was my only moment of glory. There was a lot of rock hopping and a bit of rock climbing. Lucky for me, I didn't loose any equipment and only a little bit of sweat. (Ok, a lot of sweat cause it wasn't a lil' hump) This trip made me relish another trip and to somehow break off this current slump of fishing that I am now experiencing. This slump is starting to grow. I first started the slump in September and now I fear I will end 2008 without netting a fish. I guess I need a slump buster. The Lake Camanche Trout pond comes to mind. I will have to weigh out my decision on this. Don't worry, I will post something on this matter in the future.
